Hunting for the semifinals

23 October 2014

The 'Valencia Open 500 ATP World Tour' is hotting up with the running of the quarter-final, decisive phase to begin to seriously discern applicants with more options to reach the final.

The day starts at 13.00 with the match between Andy Murray and Kevin Anderson. It will be the fourth meeting between the two, so far with a 2-1 in favor of the Scot, one of them this year at Wimbledon. The South African had never played the quarters on the courts of the City of Arts and Sciences on the two occasions he had played the tournament (2011 and 2013).

In second round comes David Ferrer, top seed against the 'qualifier' Thomaz Bellucci. The Spanish and the Brazilian will have met five times, with four wins for David, one season in Rio de Janeiro.

Jeremy Chardy and wild card Pablo Carreno will open the evening session. They have met only one occasion with victory for the French.

Then there will be a Spanish duel. Tommy Robredo and Pablo Andujar ensure an 'Armada' tennis player in the semis and the shock is truly matched.
